I can become aware of a 'moment' , a present situation, that moves me, touches me, and tears come to my eyes or an open smile with no apparent explanation. Ever happened to you? In most people this response happens spontaneously at random and often is given no attention because has no reason, it is not rational.
Awareness (and feelings) are difficult to sustain because they require a detachment (in degrees) from the ego-mind. The whole point of our Yoga practice is to arrive to a sustained awareness and, therefore, a direct "feel" of the moment, now. Living in one's feelings = living in the present, in the moment. The emotions, on the contrary,
are always of the past (and projected future).
Hi Markos, finally I hear from you :). Feeling keys on your keyboard belongs the senses (and therefore mind). It is a sensation that can be observed. The whole subject of feelings is difficult to explain rationally in words.
Thanks Fausto. Even though as you say it's difficult to explain rationally in words, your comments have made it much clearer. Since awareness+response = feelings, and of course the response is instantaneous, since we are fully in the moment and catch it before it runs through the processor up top, another way of understanding "feelings" could be I suppose as our connection, or interaction with the energy around us. A merging or fusion of our prana with the universal energy. In such a moment, our energy is fully attuned with that around us, so any action is pure, creative and effortless. Does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely right. A direct connection with the Present ... and the feelings are 'felt' in the body as the prana within is stirred (response) by the energy of the moment. With the growing awareness of one's responses one end up living a life in tune with one's nature (character) and, therefore, into one's destiny.

I was also looking for help on addiction. I found an eating disorder programs center that really helped me out.
